Government Electricity Rebate (GER)
About the scheme
The Government Electricity Rebate (GER) partially offset all domestic electricity customers for the cost of the government’s environmental policies. Licensed electricity suppliers were obligated to add a £12 rebate to bills in the autumns of 2014 and 2015.
The total value of these rebates was estimated to be worth a total of £620 million. Ofgem introduced a licence condition associated with this requirement and had a role to monitor compliance levels.
