In October 2021, the Government Response to Clean Heat Grant proposals within the ‘Future support for low carbon heat’ consultation named Ofgem as the intended administrator of the Boiler Upgrade Scheme (BUS), formerly known as the Clean Heat Grant.
The BUS will launch in Spring 2022 to aid the decarbonisation of buildings through providing upfront capital grants to support the installation of heat pumps and biomass boilers in homes and some non-domestic buildings.
Through this consultation, we are seeking views on our proposed administration of the BUS. We encourage respondents to answer the questions that are of the most interest.
We are planning to hold a stakeholder engagement event in order to help interested stakeholders and all relevant parties engage with the BUS consultation. Details of how to join the event will be published in due course.
The closing date for responses is 27 January 2022. To respond to our consultation, please use the relevant template provided below. Use of this template will help us to process responses more efficiently. Following analysis of responses, we will publish a decision document and procedural guidance. Please send your responses to Future.HeatPolicy@ofgem.gov.uk.
We are also in the process of designing the digital service for the BUS, according to the 14 Government Digital Service (GDS) service standards. We have been engaging with potential service users throughout this process as part of user research and usability testing sessions. If you would like to be part of our user research, please send an email to Future.Heat@ofgem.gov.uk.
