We welcome the Government’s announcement of a new Energy Price Guarantee (EPG) from 1 October 2022 which will bring significant benefits and much needed support to domestic customers who will struggle to pay their energy bills this winter. The EPG is necessarily being developed at pace, with Ofgem supporting the Government and industry. Given the urgency to get the scheme in place and underway, we recognise suppliers may not have full and timely information about the EPG which may temporarily affect their ability to discharge some of their licence obligations to the highest standards expected of an essential service provider. This letter assures suppliers that we will work with them in addressing issues as they arise and that we will continue to take a proportionate and pragmatic approach to dealing with any arising compliance issues.
