NOTICE UNDER SECTION 6A(5) OF THE ELECTRICITY ACT 1989 OF THE GRANT OF AN ELECTRICITY DISTRIBUTION LICENCE
The Gas and Electricity Markets Authority (“the Authority”) hereby gives notice pursuant to section 6A(5) of the Electricity Act 1989 (“the Act”) that on 12 October 2023 an electricity distribution licence was granted under section 6(1)(c) of the Act to Aidien Limited (company number 14616578) whose registered office is situated at International House, 1 St.Katharines Way, London, E1W 1YL, United Kingdom (“the Licence”) authorising it to distribute electricity in the area specified in Schedule 1 (attached) for the purpose of giving a supply to any premises.
Under section 8A(2) of the Act, the Authority has modified the standard conditions of the Licence. The modifications (as proposed) are set out in the Notice under section 8A(3) of the Act which we published at:
Aidien Limited – Notice of Statutory Consultation | Ofgem
The reason why the Authority made the licence modifications is to protect the interests of consumers by:
(a) ensuring that the standard licence conditions applicable to Distribution Services Providers are disapplied in relation to Electricity Distributors to whom the requirements of Section B of the standard conditions do not apply;
(b) regulating Aidien Limited’s charges in respect of domestic customers for the use of its distribution system on grant of the Licence; and
(c) imposing requirements on Aidien Limited in respect of its creditworthiness and indebtedness on grant of the Licence.
This document is notice of the reasons for the Authority’s decision for the purposes of section 49A(2) of the Act.
A copy of this licence is available from Ofgem’s Electronic Public Register or by email at Licensing@ofgem.gov.uk.
