How to apply
Our guide to applying
-
Get prepared
For the application process to be as smooth as possible, it’s essential to prepare in advance. If you’ve seen the application form questions, got your answers ready and gathered all of the supporting evidence needed beforehand it will help to ease the application process.
Take a look at our Guide to the RHI Application Form and Easy Guide to Applying, which show you the questions one by one. They include tips and pointers to where to find the information required, and links to the documents and templates that you will need.

Evidence and documents needed
Your application needs to include a number of documents and evidence which can be found in the Easy Guide to Applying.
The application form will work on all devices but we recommend you use your computer (rather than a smartphone or tablet) where possible.
We ask that the authorised signatory completes the form personally as bank and personal details are required.
Make sure that the name and personal details you use for your application are the same as the bank account you’re using. If you’re unsure what information your bank holds on you, you can check the Equifax Website.

Avoid the main pitfalls
To make sure your application gets processed quickly, avoid these common pitfalls:
- Incomplete applications – particularly missing/incomplete documents or insufficient detail in text boxes.
- Poor quality schematic diagram.
- Poor quality Independent Report on Metering Arrangements (IRMA) (see Guidance Volume 1, Chapter 13).
- Not checking the application form before submitting to pick up small errors (such as entering the installation capacity as MW instead of kW / meter readings slightly out of date, etc).
