In July 2018 we published our consultation ‘Independent Distribution Network Operators – licence applications from affiliates of existing licensees’ to invite views on what additional measures if any would be appropriate for affiliates of Distribution Network Operators (DNOs) applying for an Independent Distribution Network Operator licence (IDNO).
We received responses from DNOs and IDNOs and identified issues during our assessment of the potential for Affiliated IDNOs (AIDNOs). Following this, we published our update ‘Update on our consultation on electricity distribution licence applications from affiliates of existing licensees’ in December 2018 which highlighted the responses raised and our next steps.
We have now completed our assessment and have drafted proposed modifications to the Electricity Distribution Licence. The purpose of the proposed modifications is to ensure the Electricity Distribution Licence continues to be ‘fit for purpose’ for all relevant licensees.
We are inviting views on the proposed modification.
