Angela has more than 25 years experience in the UK/EU electricity and gas sector, with a particular focus on communication, policy, safety and vulnerable customers. Having started her career at Scottish Power, Angela spent 15 years in a variety of commercial and finance roles, latterly as UK Strategy and External Affairs Manager (Retail, Renewables, Generation and Trading).
On leaving Scottish Power, Angela became an independent strategic energy market advisor and was concurrently Director of Gas, Communications and European Affairs at the Energy Networks Association trade association. Angela has chaired and led a number of significant industry developments and projects. She became an inaugural Trustee of the Gas Safe Charity in 2009, linked to the Gas Safe Register, and still serves on the Board today. She was previously Chairman of the Gas Forum trade association (representing gas Shipper/Suppliers), Vice Chairman of the Gas Industry Safety Group, Trustee of the Gas Safety Trust and the Scottish Power Energy People (fuel poverty) Trust.
In addition Angela Chaired the Communication Sub-group of the DECC Energy Emergencies Committee, linked to Cobra, and was instrumental in setting up the energy Suppliers’ Home Heat Helpline initiative through the Energy Retail Association. She also held the role of Green Deal Programme Director for Ascertiva Group (the commercial arm of Electrical Safety First), attaining one of the first accreditations as a Green Deal Certification Body.
