Consumer Survey 2020: Update on Consumer Engagement with Energy
Reports, plans and updates
Since 2014, Ofgem has undertaken an annual survey to monitor domestic energy consumers’ engagement in the energy market. This report summarises the results from the 2020 survey relating to comparing energy tariffs and switching.
The survey measures consumer switching and comparison behaviours, consumer confidence to source energy deals, what prompts engagement, perceptions of the switching process and the channels used to switch or compare energy tariffs.
In 2020 the content of the survey was refreshed to explore attitudes towards decarbonisation and openness to using technologies that may result in more efficient use of the energy network. The results from these aspects of the survey will be published in the coming months.
