This is the decision for the statutory consultation on pension scheme arrangements for National Grid employees transferring to the Future System Operator (FSO) as well deferred and active pensioners of the ESO who are not transferring to the FSO.

As part of the process of the creation of the National Energy System Operator (NESO, formerly the Future System Operator or FSO) under public ownership, there will need to be arrangements for the pensions of some ESO employees who are transferring over to the NESO. Following Department for Energy Security and Net Zero engagement with National Grid, Ofgem has decided to modify the National Grid Electricity Transmission licence conditions to allocate the costs of the pension scheme between National Grid and the NESO in a way that would preserve neutrality for consumers and National Grid.
