We consulted from 14 May 2024 to 12 June 2024 on whether to remove the ban on acquisition-only tariffs (BAT) after 6 months of its current annual extension (from 1 October 2024) or to allow it to remain in place for the entirety of that extension period (until 1 April 2025).

This document describes our decision to retain the BAT in place for the entirety of that extension period. We have also signalled our intention that the BAT should remain in place subsequent to that date and remain part of the market until longer-term decisions on the future of the retail market (including the option of introducing a permanent, enduring version of the BAT) have been made.

We are also retaining the associated Market Wide Derogation for fixed retention tariffs for the entirety of the current extension period.
