Gas and electricity are essential services. Providing extra services to people who need them to access the market and stay safe remains critically important. We consulted on proposals for changes to the current arrangements for the Priority Services Register between July and September 2014. Our proposals move away from the solely defined-category approach to one which is more based on need. It requires energy companies to proactively identify and record those customers who need services, and for relevant services to be offered and taken up.
This open letter provides an update on the review, seeks views on additional eligibility relating to certain services and sets out the next steps for the development of final proposals.
