This guidance outlines Ofgem’s administration of the Green Gas Levy (GGL).
Within this document we have provided details of the obligations for new, current and former licenced gas suppliers and this supersedes the version published on 2 June 2023.
The Green Gas Levy Guidance v3.0 aligns with the Green Gas Support Scheme Regulations 2021, as amended by the Green Gas Support Scheme (Amendment) Regulations 2023 which came into effect on 1 December 2023.
The amendments to the regulations include changes to:
- calculation of credit cover for new scheme suppliers.
- method of payment for a former scheme suppliers’ final quarterly levy payment.
- and introduction of a de minimis threshold for certain GGL payment obligations which will be applicable from the financial year 2024/2025.
