About industry standards

Licensees are required to comply with a number of technical codes and standards relating to their transmission and distribution operations.

This section contains information on the standards that are in place as well as requests and decisions on applications for derogation from these standards and links to external parties, such as National Grid, who have a role in the governance of codes.

Technical standards

Information on technical codes and standards that licensees are required to have in force and comply with.

Derogations from standards

When a licensee assesses that it is not in a position to comply with a particular code or standard, or that the requirements placed upon it by a code or standard may result in an inefficient outcome.

Quality of Service Guaranteed Standards

Guaranteed standards of service levels that must be met by each distribution company and that have been set to guarantee a level of service that is reasonable to expect companies to deliver in all cases.
